Gratitude is One of the Highest Vibrations

Science tells us that everything vibrates. The chair you're sitting on vibrates and the device you're looking at this email is vibrating. You are vibrating.

In fact, if you're healthy, you're vibrating in a very particular range, but if you're unwell you are below that range. Many people are looking towards vibrations to be one of the new technology in healing modalities.

The cool thing is that you don't need some fancy doctor or expensive tech to change your vibrations. Science is showing us that we can alter our vibrations through thought, emotions, and intention. In fact, the entire range of emotions has been studied and we know what we call "positive emotions" actually vibrate faster than "negative emotions".

I'm gonna make this simple. I had a bit of an existential crisis on Christmas Day.

You see, I decided to spend the morning in a 4-hour mini-retreat with meditation and Reiki which was meant to be relaxing, but I ended up questioning all of my entire existence. These things happen.

I should've known things were going to go wonky when I was meditating and my college ex-boyfriend's face popped up. Let's just say we had a dramatic relationship and towards the end of our time together I probably suppressed a great desire to thwack him in the dangly bits.


Anyhow, person after person, connection after connection, emotion after emotion just began to arise in waves and I was given an opportunity to make peace with it all. So I did. And it felt GREAT as those relationships were let go and the energy was freed... but then the stories around them began to crumble. Well, let me tell you that I have apparently built a lot of my identity around those old stories...

You know that breathing is necessary for life, but you may not have thought much about how you actually breath. How you breath is an indicator for what's going on inside of your body. For many of us, we breath fast, shallow and high in the chest because we are so stimulated, stressed, and constantly in go-go-go mode. This is the adrenaline mode of our sympathetic nervous system that causes us to be in "fight or flight". Why We Us Suffer

Right now, I am suffering. We were hit by a bad storm and we have no idea when our power is going to be back on. The worst part is that it's getting into near-freezing weather at night annnnnd our emergency generator is almost out of gas.

Cleansing a home is not the same as cleaning a home! Clearing a home is about the unseen elements of your home that impact you and your family in ways you may not notice. It's about the energy that your home is transmitting-- sometimes it's subtle and sometimes it's, well, not. 

Cleansing is great in general because it's like a fresh start. The energy of your home won't be impacting you or your family. Instead you get to start anew with your intention for your space. You don't need a fancy reason except you're worth it.

Balancing the Root Chakra

So many people have been coming into my practice lately with an imbalanced root chakra. Can you blame them? The world is a bit crazy and it can often feel unsafe. 

The root chakra is the center of security. It desires to feel stable and safe above all else. To the root chakra, the goal of life is survival. It is concerned with food, water, a roof over your head, money, health, and even toilet paper. 

When we see people on social media who are demanding that one person or group behave a certain way to make them feel safe, you better believe that is the root chakra talking. When it starts to wobble, our whole lives can feel imbalanced. It is the foundation of all the other chakras and all parts of our lives. That's why when you see people hoarding all the toilet paper or buying all the bread-- they aren't thinking of others. They just can't. They are in survival mode.

Meet My Ghost, Frank

I Have A Ghost Named Frank

A few years ago Clint and I moved to our dream house in the mountains. We were lucky enough to find 7 acres outside of Asheville, NC (a super hippie town) and start a small homestead.

Almost immediately after we moved, I felt an unsettling energy in the upstairs office. I diffused essential oils, smudged sage, placed every crystal I owned in that room and nothing worked. I even used Reiki to clear the room. No change. I was floored as to why this energy was so persistent!

A few months after we moved in, the previous owner's son came by to get a ladder he left. He told us that his father, Frank, died in the upstairs office in the exact spot that I felt the unsettled energy! I knew what it was! Frank was still in our home!

Missing The Obvious

I won't even try to sugar coat it, I had a rough week last week. I was beating myself up for days over my shortcomings. I felt like I was blocking myself and being too controlling. I had this unrealistic idea that when I fully let go and surrendered, then everything would melt away and life would be perfect.

Aromatherapy For Emotional Release

A lot of people swear by aromatherapy for emotional release. This is because aromatherapy is one of the few things we can do that has a direct impact on the mind. 

You can test this theory by think of a smell that jogs a memory. For me, its the smell of old lady rose perfume. My great-grandmother always smelled like that and her bedroom was an explosion of it. Now whenever I smell some a rose scent, I'm transported back to her.

Do you have a smell like that?

Sometimes these scents are so ingrained into our brain that they cause an emotional response instead of a memory. For instance, simply think of smelling fresh peppermint and noticing how it makes you feel? 

Smells can do this because they directly impact the limbic center of our brain. The limbic system is the emotional center of our body and it is responsible for the experience and expression of emotion. To think that smell can do that! It's amazing, isn't it?
